THE HAMPTONS

WHILE IN NEW YORK YOU COULD VISIT THE HAMPTONS

In December 2015 we decided to visit the Hamptons, driving from Manhattan (if staying at the Beacon Hotel there is a Avis Rental Car outlet on 75th Street off Broadway) it was very easy to navigate our way out of Manhattan and also means you can drive around once you are there, make sure you have a GPS system (either on your phone or rent one). You can also get the Hampton Jitney  https://reservations.hamptonjitney.com which leaves Manhattan daily then hire a car once you are there, in March 2017 my girlfriend and I took the Hampton Jittney which was extremely easy to do.  If driving from the Beacon Hotel make your way to the 295 which takes you to the 495 direct to Southampton.

ACCOMMODATION

We stayed at '1708 House' in Southampton - 126 Main Street, Southampton- Tel.(631)287-1708 www.1708house@hamptons.com  #1708house this is an Historic Bed & Breakfast (it is walking distance to the main shopping area and some beautiful houses in the nearby streets) you will need a car to get down to the beach for those beautiful houses you see in the movies and tv shows.

If you have a car you can then visit East Hampton, Montauk and Snug Harbour, we thoroughly enjoyed being able to drive around the whole of the Hamptons.

SHOPPING IN THE HAMPTONS

You will love walking around the shops in the quaint villages - (Southampton, East Hampton, Montauk and Snug Harbour) my favourite shop where I did make some purchases is Henry Lehr - 9 Main Street, Southampton and 16 New Town Lane, East Hampton - they have labels from all over the world AG Jeans and Frank & Eileen Shirts both out of California - ask for Amy as she is Adam's wife from Highway Restaurant & Bar.

I hope this helps you with some tips on visiting the Hampton

On my trip here in 2017 I discovered the local Bus system which takes you to East Hampton via Sag Harbor so if you do take the Jittney from Manhattan to Southhampton you can use the local bus to get around.  Jenny and I spent all day getting on and off the Bus.  There is also a train to Montauk.
